To everyone who has ever brought a Legacy home,
Forty-three years ago, Bill Dudleston set out to build a speaker with soul. Not one that only measured well, but one that let you forget you were listening to a speaker at all. He built it by hand in Springfield, Illinois. People like you heard the difference and told a friend, and that is how this company grew: one living room at a time.
I am the new owner, and I know what I have been handed. It isn't a factory or a brand. It is the trust of every person who has one of Bill's speakers in their home. Bill is still here and still designing, and he and I agree on what Legacy is and where it goes next.
So here is my promise to you. You will always come first. We will never compromise on quality, on integrity, or on giving you exceptional value. Our speakers will stay true to the artist and unapologetic about it, because soul doesn't always show up on a graph, but it is the difference between a speaker you hear, and a moment you feel. We are human, and we won't always get it right. When we don't, we will own it and make it right. And when you call, a person will answer.
What will change is how far we can take it. We are not standing still. We will keep innovating, and we will keep making great sound simpler and more approachable, so more people get to feel what you already know.
Thank you for forty-three years. Come see us.
With gratitude,
Jay McArdle
CEO and Owner, Legacy Audio
Some songs stop being songs. They become doors to a moment: a wedding, a first kiss, a championship game.
The more completely we reproduce that recording, the more completely it takes you back. And because you've heard that song hundreds of times, anything new we can surface in it doesn't just add to the song. It deepens the memory.
When you choose Legacy, you're trusting a family of people in Springfield, Illinois, who answer the phone, build your pair by hand and stay with you for as long as it plays.
Every speaker is measured first, then a person listens and signs off before it ships.
When you own a Legacy, you can always call the factory for help, wherever you bought it. No proof of purchase needed.
Every Legacy cabinet is designed, manufactured, assembled, finished and supported in Springfield by IBEW Local 193 craftspeople.
Take either glass elevator to 8. The walkway around the atrium is closed, so follow the outer hall around to the west wing. Rooms 806 and 802 sit side by side, one door apart.
A few steps from Room 802, on the same hall. Come back as often as you like.
Pick a time, your speaker and your songs. You get an entry pass with a QR code to show at the door.

Room 802 is for the decision. If you are thinking about a pair of Legacy speakers for your home, this is your time with them. The door closes, the speaker you chose is set up and waiting, and the three songs you know by heart are ready to play. Listen, ask us anything, and leave knowing what your music sounds like on the speaker you are considering.
The step from a shelf to the floor. Music comes from a pair of towers instead of two small boxes, and a film sounds as full as a record.
A little floor space and a modest amplifier.
Voices and instruments sit more clearly apart, because the midrange has its own driver. Highs are sweet and clear.
Very little. It plays loud from a modest amplifier.
Tight bass with no boom, even near a wall, and a top end that stays detailed without turning harsh. It keeps its balance at low volume.
The least of any tower. It is the most forgiving about where it stands.
Detail you may not have heard in a familiar record, because this is the speaker some of those records were finished on. Bass arrives with snap and weight.
Space. It does its best in a larger room with some distance from the walls.
Music fills the room instead of coming from two boxes. With no cabinet behind the upper drivers, music opens out into the room, and the processor evens out what your room does to the bass. The treble is smooth, never bright.
Room to breathe behind it. We tune it to your room.
Five pairs, one player. Each pair is set up for your session, so the only thing that changes is the speaker.
Prices“From” is the base price, a pair, in a standard finish · “As demonstrated” is the pair in Room 802, with the finish and options listed · Prices as of November 2026
Room 806 is where you get to know us. There is nothing to book. Whitney or Jay will welcome you, find you a seat and play the music you came for. Stay for one song or for an hour, and hear the story of a family-owned company, building speakers by hand in Springfield since 1983. When you want time alone with a speaker, Room 802 is a few steps away.
Both pairs in this room are Remastered: Legacy speakers restored to spec at the factory in Springfield. Ask Whitney or Jay to reserve one.

Two hotel rooms hold only so much. Tell us which Legacy you hoped to hear and we will consider bringing it, to this show or the next one near you. If we can't, we will help you find another way to hear it.
